Rudchester Bothy

November 2024

We think the Bothy was built as part of the other farm buildings in the 17th or 18th centuries.

This aerial photograph, which we think is from the early 20th Century, you can see The Bothy, similar to its current form, with grass at the back.

This is probably a later photograph showing the front of the Bothy with large "cart doors", a normal door and then two open "tractor" sheds.

This is the Bothy in July 2020.

Michael Anthony and Susan McClellan bought Rudchester Bothy from Adam Christian Quentin James on 9th September 1992 (ND78740). It was converted (Castle Morpeth planning charges 89/D/411 registered 13th November 1989, 91/D/574 registered 12th February 1992) into a 2 bedroom house with later division of one of the bedrooms into two. Downstairs there is a kitchen-dining room, a sitting room and a study/bedroom). It was rented for several years, sold in 2019 and then sold again to the current owners on 08 November 2024.
